Bramhall Methodist Church Family Newsletter – Summer 2017

Dear everyone,

Welcome to the Summer term at Bramhall Methodist Church!

Once again we have a number of events taking place for families with young children over the next few weeks at the Church, which we’d like to let you know about.  These are all detailed in the following newsletter but if you would like any further information please don’t hesitate to contact me at or telephone 07981 123646.

We extend a very warm invitation to you and your family and hope that you will feel welcome and at home with us at any of these events over the coming weeks.

  • Messy Church – 4.00-6.00pm on the 2nd Sunday of each month

This takes place in the Church Centre on the 2nd Sunday of every month and includes an hour of fun and creative craft activities and games, based on a different theme or story from the Bible.  Following a short time of family-friendly worship in Church, everyone has tea together in the Back Hall, usually finishing around 6pm.

We are continuing to run our zone for 8-11 year olds this term, which includes activities such as awesome science experiments, computer games, food, games and baking fun! The themes and dates are:

May 14th              ‘Forgiveness’ – Joseph and his brothers
June 11th              Caring for others – The Lost Sheep

  • Floral Design Evening – 7.30pm for an 8pm start on Wednesday 17th May – Bramhall Park Café

Following the success of two recent ‘Floral Design’ evenings with the ‘Time Out’ group, Val Seed will be leading another evening of creative flower designing at the café at Bramhall Park on May 17th.  Places will need to be booked and payment made in advance of the event.  The cost of the evening is £15 and places can be booked through me at

  • ‘Time Out’ – 8.00-9.45pm on the 3rd Thursday of every month

"Time Out" meets on the 3rd Thursday of every month in the Centrepoint Coffee Shop and offers a range of activities from discussions about parenting, faith and family life to talks from outside speakers and social evenings.  It’s geared towards mums, looking for a little ‘time out’ from busy family lives. The spring term programme includes:

18th May              Fun tips for Everyday Parenting – with Sophie McCumesky – The Babysitting Club
15th June              Rowley Projects – with Angela Rowley – an update on the work taking place in a small rural community in Kenya

  • Who Let the Dads Out? – 10.00-11.30am on the 3rd Saturday of every month

‘Who Let the Dads Out?’ is an opportunity for dads and granddads to spend time with their under 5 year olds in a playgroup setting on a Saturday morning.  Craft activities, toys, refreshments and ‘bacon butties’ are served and then the session usually finishes with a short story time.  Dates for this term are:

May 20th and 17th June

  • 4th Sunday Family Service – Sunday 28th May at 10.00am

Our new, 4th Sunday, monthly family-friendly services, will continue to take place this term.  These are relaxed, very informal and completely child-friendly! Refreshments will be served following the service.

Dates for this term are:  25th June and 23rd July

  • Church Family Picnic – Sunday 25th June

This year our annual Church Family Picnic will take place, after the Junior Church Anniversary, on Sunday 25th June in Bramhall Park from 12 noon onwards for food and games.

  • Connect@4 – afternoon tea event – Sunday 2nd July  from 4.00-5.30pm

This is an opportunity to get together with families connected to BMC through the many different groups taking place at the Church. Taking place in the Centrepoint Coffee Shop, the afternoon will include drinks from 4pm followed by a short discussion time for the adults and entertainment in an adjoining room for the children.  Everyone will join together again for tea at 5pm.  If you are able to bring a small amount of food for a ‘bring and share’ tea, this would be very much appreciated.

  • BMC Baby Chat

BMC Baby Chat meets every Wednesday, term-time only, 10.30-11.30am.  The group is for all mums/carers/ grandparents with babies and pre-toddler aged children.  It’s a chance to meet others, have a drink and hopefully enjoy a relaxing chat!

  • Paediatric First Aid Training

We are currently organising a number of daytime and evening paediatric first aid training courses through Millie’s Trust.  Each two hour session covers a range of basic first aid advice on choking and resuscitation.  The suggested donation is £10.  Please email me if you are interested in attending one of these courses.  The provisional date for the next course is Monday 26th June at 7.30pm.

  • Fun Club 2017

This year’s Fun Club for 5-11 year olds will take place on Wednesday 2nd, Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th August from 10.00am to 12.30pm.  This year all our Bible stories, film clips, craft activities, games, challenges and activities will be based around an underwater theme.  Registration will be open at the end of this half-term!
