Professor Peter D Howdle, Emeritus Professor of Clinical Medicine, The University of Leeds.
Peter was a consultant gastroenterologist at St James’s University Hospital, Leeds and Professor of Clinical Medicine. His clinical and research interest was in diseases of the small intestine, particularly coeliac disease, and resulted in over 100 articles and 3 books. For four years he served as Chair of Guideline Development Committees for the National Institute of Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). He is a past Vice-President of the Methodist Conference and an active Local Preacher. From 2003-14 he co-chaired the Joint Commission on the Anglican-Methodist Covenant and was awarded the Lambeth Cross for Ecumenism by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 2017.
