Sing Easter!

This Easter at Bramhall Methodist Church, we want to bring all of our voices together in creating the music for our worship. Over the last year we have joined our individual voices in our own homes with videos from singing from around the world. This time we’d like to try to bring our own voices together for our Easter celebration. This is an opportunity for everyone - you don’t have to sing in a choir! It is easy for virtually anyone to take part - no musical or technical skills required. And it will only take about 20 minutes. All the information is below - and I really hope you will take part - and will enjoy it!!

Ian Castledine - March 2021

Answering your questions!

Who can take part?

Everybody! You don’t need to be a strong singer. And you don’t need to be a technical whizz-kid.

How do I do it? (The easy way)

You don’t need anything other than the computer or device that you’re reading this on (although it would be helpful if you have headphones).

Click here to go through step by step instructions and do the recording.

How else do I do it? (The slightly more difficult way)

If you have two devices and are more comfortable using a mobile phone to record yourself, then you can follow the slightly more complex route by clicking here. You will need something to record yourself at home - a phone or a computer is ideal. You’ll also need a second device to listen to the backing track that you’ll sing along to.

When do I need to do my recording?

You need to have completed your recordings by Palm Sunday - 28th March.

Do I have to be seen?

No - if you prefer, you could just record your voice. But we’re hoping that you’ll record a video so we can see you - your picture will then appear alongside many others in the final productions.

Who will hear my singing?

Ian will hear your singing whilst he is editing the final production - but no one else will. And he’ll be bombarded by so many recordings, that he won’t be paying too much attention to individual’s voices anyway!

How do I send my recordings in?

If you pick the easy way, you don’t have to do anything - it happens automatically. If you do the slightly more difficult way, then instructions are on the advanced page.

What songs are we singing?

Some of your favourite Easter hymns and songs. You don’t have to do them all if you don’t want to

Can I sing some harmonies?

Yes - if you want to, but we really just want to have a big congregational sing - just like we would if we were singing in church! But see below if you would like to do a bit of harmony!

Do you just want singing?

No - if you’d like to record an instrument, then feel free - just record it and submit it in the same way.

Help!

If you need help, please can you email ian - ian@icastledine.co.uk. It would be helpful if you can email rather than phone please!

The music.

We’re recording four glorious Easter hymns for our Easter Sunday celebration. You’re welcome to record any or all of them as you choose. The hymns are:

You’ll be singing along to a backing track with other singers - and you’ll have the words to sing along to! If you do want the sheet music, then just click the links above.
